Write More!

Less than 48 hours removed from being in Taiwan and I'm here writing again. The post-Taiwan depression (PTD) isn't as bad this time around, probably because I'm sick with a stuffy nose and occasional sneezes. It's really difficult to battle PTD because there are so many factors that you have to overcome.

There is an enormous inflation of prices, anywhere from 4x-10x depending on what you're buying. This usually makes me consider moving to Taiwan after getting an American salary. Then there is the lifestyle. Today after dinner we couldn't figure out anything to do because after 10pm, there really is nothing open. I would say for the most part, you can find similar things to do in Taiwan and Cupertino, but the hours you are able to do them are different. 10pm in Taiwan feels like 10pm in Vegas, where you're constantly thinking, "The night is still young." And it's true because everything is still open, there are still thousands of people awake and walking around just like you.

I am looking forward to flying back to SD on Monday. It really baffles me how I feel like I'm always trying to get away from this place. Something about home just doesn't feel the same as it used to - most people have gone to other places. I sleep better and feel more productive when I'm in SD. It almost feels like being there gives me more responsibility. I really hope I find a job in SD so I can stay, please let me find a job in SD. The search continues Monday.

On a side note, I wish everybody had a blog and wrote in it at least once a week. It would be pretty enlightening to read. I think there are so many things you can learn about someone by reading their blog. What their passions are, what their struggles are. You can really get a "pulse" on someone's life. And if you blog long enough, you can really see change and development over time which is fascinating. I understand a lot of people journal instead of blog because they are very private about these things, but I would encourage everybody in general to at least try blogging; there is something gratifying about it. The only catch is that you have to be open enough and write often enough in order to feel the rewards of blogging.

cool post. i like reading your blog, one day i will start one too. the problem with most people including me is that it's hard to organize all the thoughts you have throughout the day into one blogpost. people these days use twitter and facebook because it's easier to just write what they're thinking in under 140 characters.

i agree with jason (??). i have a few half written post because i there was too much to write and i couldnt quite organize my thoughts into something cohesive and flowing. but im also not as open, like you said in your post. i use to write a lot in my LJ because i had more control over who can see my posts. i also thought it was strange that people who dont know who i am will know so much about me. i dont know, we'll see how i feel after this last post (i did it for you!)
