Groovin'

I think I've discovered the right amount of poker to fun ratio. The past three trips to Vegas have been profitable and I think a big part of it is because I've really begun to try and balance my mind. Before I'd try to put in as many hours as possible and sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. Nowadays I am much more patient and am willing to forgo some hours and just hang out somewhere else.

It's also definitely a good thing when non-poker players come along. When they come it feels appropriate to hang out with them away from poker because anybody who has watched someone play poker before knows it gets boring after a while. This means short, focused sessions for me. Afterward, I can relax away from the table so I really focus for the 2-4 hours I'm playing. Not only does it mean more profitable sessions, I never feel burnt out. I feel ready to go back to Vegas already and I haven't even been back for more than a day.

Along with time management at the table, one big rule I've learned: never drink energy drinks when you go clubbing. Energy drinks mixed with alcohol makes you think you can do things that you should not be doing. I'm down so much lifetime trying to play poker when I drink energy drinks. You think your mind is clear but you actually don't have a clue what you're doing. Once I kicked the habit, I found life to be a lot more enjoyable.

Anyway, the Vegas bug is definitely alive and running within me. It was dormant for a while but it's coming back strong. The weather is great right now, mid 70's all day. Anyone care to join our apartment the weekend of April 10th?
