A New Form of Pain

Started playing a ton of Omaha/8 this week. It's such an interesting game because there are so many things to think about and hand reading is much more difficult sometimes.

I've been getting crushed at it after getting off to a hot start. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong specifically but it seems to be a combination of things. After playing a lot, I don't believe that raise-or-fold applies to Omaha/8 like it does in hold'em and that there is a certain range of hands you can open limp with. I think hold'em gives you a bad habit of trying to be too aggressive. Omaha/8 definitely takes more patience and finesse.

There are also spots where I should be bet/folding to a check/raise where in hold'em it's almost always incorrect to do so. Finally, I don't think I'm calling down enough with certain boards. I don't know, I plan on taking a break for now to study what I've been doing wrong.

Poker is such an interesting specimen. I use that noun to describe it because it's so fluid and is continuously evolving. There is nothing else that can make you seem like a genius one day and a fool the next.
