World Peace

I think if everybody had one wish, their wish would be for world peace. I find this wish to be both very ignorant and mildly offensive.

To wish for world peace is to deny the very nature that makes us human.

Do you realize what you are asking for? Do you realize what needs to happen? You think that just because you're tired of seeing suffering and pain that there must some altruistic solution? People ask for world peace as if it was a matter of sheer will power. If everybody works on it together, we will achieve it.

I guarantee the day you find a genie bottle and wish for world peace you will find worldwide oppression. You will find a single, united dictatorship that controls the interests of all men, women, and children.

Achieving world peace means eliminating the differences that set us apart. These are the very same differences that give us culture, give us ideas, give us progress. It means one ideal or way of life is right while every other way is wrong. To think that world peace could be achieved by simply having everybody become more "understanding" of each other is ignorant; there are conflicting ideologies all over the world.

It's repulsive to ask for world peace. It's preposterous think it could somehow be achieved without harming anybody.
