Session 2

Miraculously I made it through my second session today in kickboxing. There was nothing easy about it and I admit I wanted to quit after 30 minutes. The only thing that kept me going was the "newness" of it all. I think it's definitely possible that I will fail my 3rd session.

Some observations from completing my first full session:
  • Eating a banana one hour before working out works wonders
  • The people you work out with make who you are; motivation is contagious
  • Kickboxing is misleading, it should be called the everything-workout
My teacher is pretty cool. He is an excellent motivator and likes to have fun. He refers to people by their ethnicity which some might take really personally, but I don't think he means any harm by it. If there is one reason why I think I will make it through every class here on out, it's because he won't let me quit or I will never hear the end of it.

Nutrition intake:
  • 1325 calories
  • 57.5 grams of fat
  • 11.5 grams saturated fat
  • 52 grams protein
  • 3631 mg sodium
About 65% over on my sodium intake, but the rest looks good. I actually want to take only 65-75% of my daily sodium intake in the future but I think that is going to be incredibly difficult because I love sodium dense foods. I probably need to increase my protein intake to help rebuild muscle.
