It's a weird feeling because most of my big hands are still holding up. I'm not running boats into bigger boats or flopping the nuts and getting run down. My aces and kings are still holding up. The issue is I'm winning almost nothing when I make hands. I've been dealt aces and kings a total of seven times I think (all at low limits except kings once at 10/20/40) and I only saw a flop two out of those seven times. Of the two times I saw the flop, only one got to the turn and it ended there. I feel like a fish talking about winning big pots with aces and kings. In my life I'm pretty sure my biggest pots have never been aces or kings. The reason I am even mentioning aces and kings is because those are the only pairs I make now that win.
What sucks the most is that people aren't making huge laydowns to me both because it's really difficult for players to do that vs me and because a lot of mucks have been instant. Players just aren't making hands when I have a hand. Unfortunately, I seem to have decent hands when they have hands.
I am making an average of one or two big hands per session and usually making a decent amount if my opponent has a hand. However, I've been going through the whole "making a pair is difficult" phase recently. When you get AK the board is 246 and when you get KQs the board is 876. These types of flops do happen and usually I can double or triple barrel through but the problem is when you aren't doing much and bleeding a little bit, people just stop folding to you. It's like there is no credibility until you win a big pot with a legitimate hand.
Anyway, hopefully things will turn around sooner than later. I'm taking this week off to get some work done then heading to Vegas next Tuesday. The plan is to play in the $1500 O/8 event and some cash games on the side. If I do well I'll stay through the weekend, which I really hope is the case because the first weekend of WSOP is the nuttiest time of the year.
